Healthcare
With its current population of about 89.5 million, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has one of the highest population growth rates in the world of 3.19%. This growth rate added onto the two-decade long conflicts and weak health infrastructure have resulted in a healthcare crisis across the entire country.
How We Help
DR Congoaid International has taken various steps to help alleviate the healthcare crisis, including the following:
-
Partnered with local clinics and directly covered primary care medical costs for 35 orphans and 12 elderly people in 5 facilities int he Capital of Kinshasa
-
In partnership with Specialty Eye Institute of Ohio, we provide eye exams and glasses to to thousands of poor Congolese people at no cost, at least once a year.
-
Put in place an ambulatory medical team which raises awareness among the most vulnerable communities and provides sanitary kits.
