In August of 2024, Bro. Emmanuel took another trip to DR Congo to assist by any means possible as well as preach the gospel. This blog post will focus on documenting the charitable work we were able to do. Thank you once again to all of the generous donors who made these things possible.
We once again visited the orphanage in the Kingasani district of Kinshasa to distribute food, clothing, beds and sheets.
On one of his stops, Emmanuel met a girl named Petronie who had been rendered deaf by an infection when she was only three years old. Without anyone to teach her sign language, her ability to communicate was severely limited. Last year, we paid for tutoring so she could learn sign language as well as how to write. On this trip, we purchased a smart phone for her which she can use to communicate with her family by typing.
We also visited an orphanage in Goma province called... You may remember from our previous post that these children were sleeping on old and unsanitary mattresses on very old bunk beds. We were able to provide them with new new bunk beds with new, clean mattresses. We also freshened up the paint, a small thing to us that put smiles on their young faces.
We also provided school uniforms for the children.
Another stop on his journey involved House of Mercy nursing home where we again distributed food and medical supplies.
During our visit to Goma province, we also distributed aid to people displaced by war. This is the third time we have been able to distribute aid to these war refugees and it makes such a huge difference in their lives.
Additionally, we provided much nicer shelters for some of the refugees in Goma, which are suitable for longer-term occupation while they wait for their homes to be liberated.
While in Goma, we distributed food and cloth to some widows, with which they can make their own clothing.
