In August of 2024, Bro. Emmanuel went on another trip to DR Congo to assist by any means possible. In two previous posts, we documented the charitable work and gospel outreach aspects of his trip. In this post, we document the various ways that we are helping churches in DR Congoaid with small construction projects, as well as providing shelter for believers who are refugees from war.
In Bel Air, on the outskirts of Kinshasa, we built a small church for the believers there, who had no place to meet.
In Ngombi, a remote area outside of Kinshasa, the believers were meeting in a structure made of bamboo and palm fronds. We provided them with cinderblock walls which will eventually be covered with a tin roof.
In Bulengo, North Kivu, there is a refugee camp for those displaced by war on the border between Congo, Uganda and Rwanda. They were meeting in a makeshift building made from bits and pieces. When it rained, water would pool in a drainage trench that ran through the middle of the building. We provided them with a proper roof so now they can remain dry and shielded from the sun while they worship.
Like the other refugees in Bulengo, the believers live in shacks and tents. We provided improved shelters for them until they can find more permanent living spaces.
